Forest Recreation Facility
A LoRa-based wireless system that brings carbon monoxide and environmental data from remote accommodation buildings into one clear management dashboard.
Reliable monitoring across a distributed mountain site
Forest recreation facilities often have accommodation buildings spread across a wide mountain area. Wired networks are difficult to install, while staff cannot continuously inspect every room or building.
Customer Challenge
- Reduce carbon monoxide accident risk through real-time CO monitoring.
- Collect data where convenient internet access is unavailable at each sensor point.
- Check every accommodation building from the management office.
- Expand from CO-only monitoring to temperature, humidity, CO and CO₂.
- Maintain stable wireless communication in forest and mountain conditions.
PnP IoTs Solution
PnP IoTs configured a LoRa wireless monitoring system using an RTU, a LoRa master and distributed wireless sensor slaves. The initial CO monitoring system was expanded to collect temperature, humidity, CO and CO₂ together and display the results on the pnpmap dashboard.
From each accommodation building to one dashboard
Compact hardware, expandable monitoring
The installed configuration combines dedicated CO nodes with multi-sensor nodes, allowing the system to grow as monitoring requirements expand.

Sensor response confirmed on site
Facility staff performed a simple operation check by generating smoke and confirming that the CO reading changed on the monitoring system. Approximately 7 ppm was detected during this field verification.
Real-time CO monitoring helps staff identify safety risks earlier.
LoRa communication suits widely distributed forest accommodation buildings.
Sensor operation and environmental values are visible from one screen.
The system can grow from CO-only monitoring to four environmental parameters.
The map-style display makes distributed buildings easier to manage.
A compact system delivers useful data without complex site infrastructure.
